4. Answer the following questions:

a) What do you mean by formatting?
Formatting means displaying the worksheet in an attractive and more legible outlook. It is done by changing the font and size of data, adding colour and shading, etc.

b) Why do we need to do conditional formatting in Ms-Excel?
We need to do conditional formatting in Ms-Excel to highlight data which matches a specific criteria.

c) Define alignment. Name different alignment buttons.
Alignment means to arrange the data in a specific way.
The different alignment buttons are left, center and right.

d) Describe different number formats
The different number formats are
General               :               It is the default category with no specific formatting
Number              :               General number display with two default decimal points
Currency             :               Add Rupees sign and decimals
Date                    :               Used to display data values
Fraction              :               Displays value as specific fraction
Text                    :               Treats values as text

e) Why do we need a theme gallery?
We need theme gallery to apply a combination of formatting settings to give a professional look to the spreadsheet.

f) What do we mean by Live Preview?
Active cell is the cell with a dark border around it. It is used for entering data.

g) What is the use of a border?
Border is used to separate the data from the surrounding cells.
